Ze'eva Cohen Dance Foundation Inc.
The Ze’eva Cohen Dance Foundation (ZCDF) (active 1973 - 2018) aimed to fulfill Cohen’s artistic and educational vision of providing communities access to theatrical dance experiences that bridge cultural differences or divides and inspiring understanding of human commonalities that are often hard to perceive. ZCDF achieved its mission through performances, teaching, lectures, and consulting. With early support by the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Council for the Arts, these activities included Cohen’s pioneering Solo Dance Repertory Program; her work directing and choreographing for her dance company; and her work as a guest choreographer for national and international dance companies. ZCDF’s latest project was archiving works from Cohen’s career and producing a documentary film, Ze’eva Cohen Creating A Life in Dance. Through archival footage, Cohen’s narration, and interviews with former students, the film illuminates her artistic and educational philosophy and is meant to inspire general audiences and future generations in dance.
